South Okanagan Community Literacy Program

The program trains volunteer tutors to work one to one with adults who would like to improve their reading, writing or math skills. It is flexible, free, has continuous intake and works towards learners' goals.  Okanagan College is the main partner.  Other community partners are Destination Osoyoos, the Oliver, Osoyoos and Okanagan Falls Branches of the Regional Library, The Okanagan Similkameen Learning Centre, the Oliver Health Unit and the South Okanagan Community Literacy Society.
Learners must be 19 years of age and be able to carry on a conversation in English.  Tutor training involves 16 hours of classroom time and is conducted in October of each year.
